Under the hood the background service-worker translates that timestamp into a alarms entry. Unlike pop-up timers that vanish if you close the side panel, alarms live in browser own process, so they fire even when the panel is hidden, the task list hasn’t been opened in days, or you restore a previous session. When an alarm triggers you receive a native desktop notification headed “Reminder” with the task’s title; click it and the side panel opens automatically so you can mark the item done or reschedule it.
