The code is an ordinary new-tab wallpaper page: a clock (:165), a local wallpaper picker over bundled (:22-39), a shortcut grid in localStorage (:227-296), and a search box that calls chrome.search.query (:93), which uses the user's own default engine rather than a monetised search feed, so the one capability the 'search' permission grants is not abused. There is no outbound POST, no telemetry, no access, no remote script (all four script tags are local and MV3's default CSP blocks remote script), and the only third-party host in the file, [domain withheld] at:408, is unreachable dead code because getVideo, total_videos and checkAndCreateIndexedDB are undefined and #bgModeToggle/#addCustom do not exist in. The residual risk that keeps this off 'false_positive' is publisher-controlled content rather than code::41-54 renders server-supplied HTML from [domain withheld] into the new tab via innerHTML, and:10-17 lets the same server replace the shortcut grid on every load, overwriting user-added shortcuts; under MV3 CSP that HTML cannot execute script, but it can render arbitrary links or iframes with no store review, which is a capability and not observed harm. Contradicting the ML score: the bundled manifest matches the published manifest exactly (one permission, one first-party host), the fetches are bare GETs carrying no user data, and the:19-25 IndexedDB wipe is scoped to the extension's own origin, clearing its own leftover videoDB. The corroborating signals are weak and not independent of each other: the internal malext-feed note and the publisher's malicious rate come from the same 2026-09-13 bulk feed import, and the 33% malicious rate in the 11,223-member permhash cluster reflects a generic new-tab template shape, not this code.
