Overlay a reading cursor on webpages; highlight text and auto-advance at a configurable WPM with a draggable panel.

Read Cursor is an on-demand reading overlay that helps you stay visually locked on the current line/word while you read on the web. It adds a lightweight control panel to the current page, highlights text as it advances, and lets you set a target reading speed (WPM) so you can read more steadily with less re-scanning and line-skipping. What it does Overlays a reading cursor/highlight directly on the page you’re reading. Auto-advances through the text at a configurable words-per-minute (WPM). Provides a draggable control panel so you can position controls wherever they’re least distracting. Lets you start from a specific point using a right-click action (“Start reading from here”) for quick re-entry. Typical use cases Long articles, documentation, blogs, and study material Reducing eye fatigue from repeatedly finding your place on the page Maintaining a consistent reading pace and improving focus How to use Open the page you want to read. Click the Read Cursor extension icon. Click Open Read Cursor to enable the overlay on the current tab. Adjust WPM and use the panel controls to start/stop or reposition as needed. Optional: highlight or place your cursor where you want to begin, then right-click and choose Start reading from here. Note: Like all Chrome extensions, injection is blocked on certain internal or restricted pages (for example chrome:// pages and some Chrome-managed pages). Permissions (why they’re needed) activeTab + scripting: to inject the reading overlay only when you explicitly click “Open Read Cursor” on the current tab (on-demand, not always-on). contextMenus: to provide “Start reading from here” on right-click. storage: to save your settings (such as WPM/theme preferences). notifications: to show an error message if injection is blocked on the current page. Privacy Read Cursor is designed to operate locally in your browser and does not require an account to function. It’s intended to modify only the current page when you choose to enable it.
