About this extension
Task-shaped prompts that carry the PowerShell Engineer Standard into GitHub Copilot, Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
Read the publisher’s full description
PowerShell Engineer turns the blank input box of your AI chat into task-shaped forms that build rigorous, Standard-compliant PowerShell prompts for you — and send them to the AI you already use. Instead of typing a vague request and getting Write-Host, no -WhatIf, and invented cmdlets back, you pick a task (new script or function, scaffold a module, refactor to the Standard, diagnose an error, or validate existing code), fill in a few fields, and the extension assembles a detailed prompt that carries the PowerShell Engineer Standard as its preamble. Every prompt bakes in production non-negotiables: [CmdletBinding()] and param() blocks, approved verbs and singular nouns, [OutputType()], objects on the pipeline instead of formatted strings, validation as parameter attributes, comment-based help with a runnable example, SupportsShouldProcess on state changes, catchable errors, no leaked secrets, PSScriptAnalyzer-clean output, and no invented cmdlets or parameters. Works with the AI chats you already have — GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. Pick a target and the extension pastes the assembled prompt into that chat and submits it, or copies it to your clipboard. Features • Task-shaped forms for scripts, functions, modules, refactors, error diagnosis, and validation • The PowerShell Engineer Standard carried into every prompt • One-click send to six AI chats, or copy to clipboard • Domain, environment-tier, and compliance-framework options that tune the guidance • Reply-language selection (panel and the AI's prose; code and parameter names stay English) • A reusable Engineer profile for your defaults Privacy: your settings stay on your device via local storage. The extension collects no data, has no telemetry, and only interacts with the six AI chat sites you send to. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft.
