A completely free extension to read highlighted text via Text To Speech.

This is a very easy to use Text To Speech extension. Simply highlight any section of text on your page, then click the extension icon on your Chrome toolbar and it will be read back to you. The extension is entirely free, and always will be. Any and all feedback/suggestions are welcome, as I plan on continuing to update it as needed.

Requires a Stop function ASAP. Requires a voice\language change function ASAP - I've tried to change it via Option and Save however it did not seem to have any effect whatsoever. I saw that some people here said that It stopped mid sentence but it never did for me, I wish it did though since... for some reason it picked my Hebrew Voice option and I had to listen to a whole article being narrated by an equivalent of someone who had learnt English from a supermarket shelf. It was utterly horrendous and my co workers could not fathom why I had that mortified expression on my face - I've shut down my BT earphones and they had the same look in 3 seconds as well. For me - that was funny so for that and for the fact that this extension is completely free I gave it 3 stars in hope that the developer would take it out of the catatonic stage it currently enjoys. Cheers!

I attempted to use this and it works on normal web pages like news articles. Though it doesn't finish the full reading of the highlighted text. But I was hoping to do less reading for my online course. This extension does not work at all on those pages.
