Read the publisher’s full description
ONT Color Picker is a practical browser extension built for color-focused work directly on web pages. Based on the provided package details, it combines color picking, conversion, palette organization, accessibility review, gradient generation, harmony exploration, and history tracking inside a single popup interface. The layout is organized into dedicated tabs, making it easy to move from selecting a color to refining it, saving it, testing it, or generating related design outputs without leaving the browser. This makes the extension useful for design review, UI inspection, front-end styling, and everyday visual workflow support. Its core function is on-page color picking. When supported, the extension uses the browser EyeDropper API for direct sampling. When that is unavailable, it switches to a fallback crosshair mode that works inside the page. In that mode, it follows the pointer, shows a floating preview tooltip, and attempts to read the visible color from the element beneath the cursor by checking computed background or text colors. This dual approach helps the extension stay usable across different browser environments and site conditions. After a color is chosen, ONT Color Picker displays it in multiple formats for practical reuse. The selected value is shown in a main swatch and paired with a nearest matching color name from its built-in name database. The package description shows support for HEX, RGB or RGBA, HSL, HSB, CMYK, and a CSS-ready declaration. The extension also includes manual editing controls through a native color input and RGBA sliders with numeric values, allowing users to fine-tune colors instead of relying only on sampled results. The palette system supports both built-in and custom collections. Preset palettes include themes such as Tailwind Colors, Pastel Dream, Material Design, Neon Cyber, and Deep Ocean. Users can also create their own palettes and save active colors into them. The extension stores palettes locally, along with the last picked color and recent history, so work remains available between sessions. A starter palette and initial history are created on installation when no prior local data exists. The package also highlights accessibility features. A WCAG contrast checker allows users to define text and background colors, preview them together, view the contrast ratio, and see pass or fail results for AA Normal, AA Large, AAA Normal, and AAA Large. This supports practical readability testing for interfaces, content, and design systems. For creative workflows, the extension includes a gradient generator and a harmony generator. Users can build linear or radial gradients, choose direction for linear gradients, preview the result, and copy the generated CSS background rule. Harmony tools generate related sets based on complementary, triadic, analogous, split, tetradic, and monochromatic relationships, along with extra tints and shades derived from the chosen base color. Key Features: - On-page color picking with EyeDropper support and a fallback crosshair mode when native picking is unavailable. - Multi-format output with HEX, RGB or RGBA, HSL, HSB, CMYK, and CSS-ready color values. - Manual editing tools including a native color input and RGBA sliders with numeric controls. - Preset palettes and custom palette creation with local persistence for saved work. - WCAG contrast checking with live preview, ratio display, and AA or AAA pass-fail indicators. - Gradient generation for linear and radial gradients with preview and CSS copy support. - Harmony generation for complementary, triadic, analogous, split, tetradic, monochromatic, plus tints and shades. How It Works: 1. Open the extension popup and go to the Picker tab to work with the current active color. 2. Start color selection from the current page using the browser EyeDropper tool or the extension’s fallback page picker. 3. Review the captured color in the main swatch and inspect its values in HEX, RGB, HSL, HSB, CMYK, and CSS formats. 4. Adjust the selected color manually with the built-in color input or RGBA sliders if needed. 5. Save the color to a custom palette, browse preset palettes, or reuse previous selections from the history section. 6. Use the contrast checker to test text and background combinations and review WCAG accessibility results. 7. Switch to the Gradient or Harmony areas to generate related color outputs and copy values for design or development work. Privacy: - This extension stores working data such as palettes, color history, last picked color, license status, and daily usage counters in local browser storage. The provided package contents do not show explicit external collection of personal data.
