Analyst notes
All code in this extension directly serves its stated purpose: a new-tab replacement showing color palettes (Font Awesome + Webpack bundle) with a Bing-powered search box. The background script only fires an install ping to [domain withheld], which is the publisher's own domain declared in host_permissions. The newtab bundle calls [domain withheld] for autocomplete and redirects searches through [domain withheld] — both behaviors are explicitly disclosed in the CWS listing ('setting Chrome New Tab search provider to Microsoft Bing'). The ML signals (eval, innerHTML, appendchild, hex encoding) are fully explained by Vue 2, Font Awesome SVG data-URIs, and standard Webpack bundling. The bundled manifest matches the published manifest exactly. The 100% malicious publisher-sibling ratio is a genuine concern but the code here contains no exfiltration, covert tracking, or malicious logic.
