Analyst notes
Source code review of,, and (16k lines) finds behavior entirely consistent with an Instagram media downloader. runs in MAIN world to extract Instagram's internal session tokens (x-ig-app-id, x-ig-www-claim) from window.require() and stores them in sessionStorage; uses these tokens exclusively for fetch() calls to [domain withheld] APIs to retrieve media URLs for download. All network destinations observed are [domain withheld], [domain withheld] (media), [domain withheld] (publisher's CDN for notification JSON — declared in host_permissions), and [domain withheld] ( UTM analytics). No eval(), no remote code loading, no credential exfiltration, and no data sent to undisclosed third parties were found. Confidence is medium rather than high because the popup's main JS chunk () is absent from the analysis bundle, leaving the urgent-notice rendering path unverifiable; however, shows the urgent-notice is fetched as JSON and returned as data — no code execution pathway exists at the background layer. The ML score is corroborated superficially by permhash cluster peers (13% flagged) and chrome-stats risk scores, but all corroborating signals are, not behavioral, and the actual source code contradicts a malicious classification.
