Guardian Lock

YouTube Guardian Parent Lock is a companion Microsoft Edge extension for the YouTube Guardian Control Center for Windows. It is designed to help parents and families create a more controlled YouTube experience for children. IMPORTANT – ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE REQUIRED YouTube Guardian Parent Lock is NOT a standalone extension. The YouTube Guardian Control Center desktop application must be installed on the Windows PC for this extension to provide its intended parental-control functionality. The Control Center is the parent-facing application used to configure and manage YouTube Guardian. The Microsoft Edge extension works together with the Control Center to apply those settings while YouTube is being used in Microsoft Edge. WHAT YOUTUBE GUARDIAN DOES YouTube Guardian gives parents greater control over what their children can access on YouTube. Key features include: • APPROVED CHANNELS Parents can create and manage a list of approved YouTube channels. When YouTube Guardian is locked, the system is designed to restrict viewing to the channels the parent has approved. • BLOCK YOUTUBE SHORTS Parents can block access to YouTube Shorts to help reduce distractions and keep children focused on approved content. • PARENT PIN PROTECTION YouTube Guardian settings can be protected by a parent PIN so children cannot simply change the parental-control settings themselves. • PARENT LOCK Parents control when YouTube Guardian's restrictions are active. The Control Center provides the parent-facing controls used to manage and protect the configured settings. • EDUCATIONAL USE Parents and homeschool families can use approved-channel controls to create a more focused YouTube environment containing educational channels they select, including subjects such as mathematics, science, history, reading, languages, and other learning content. HOW IT WORKS 1. Install the YouTube Guardian Control Center on a compatible Windows PC. 2. Install the YouTube Guardian Parent Lock extension for Microsoft Edge. 3. Configure YouTube Guardian through the Control Center. 4. Add the YouTube channels you want to approve. 5. Configure options such as blocking YouTube Shorts. 6. Protect the parental-control settings with your parent PIN. 7. Lock YouTube Guardian to apply the configured restrictions while YouTube is used in Microsoft Edge. SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS • YouTube Guardian Control Center for Windows is required. • Microsoft Edge is required to use this Microsoft Edge extension. • The extension is designed to work together with the YouTube Guardian Control Center and is not intended to function as a standalone parental-control product. PRIVACY YouTube Guardian is designed as a parental-control tool. The Microsoft Edge extension uses the permissions necessary to provide its YouTube restriction and settings functionality. It is not intended to collect or sell users' personal browsing information for advertising purposes. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS No parental-control software should be considered a substitute for parental supervision. Websites and services such as YouTube may also change over time, which can affect the operation of browser-based parental-control features.
