Forsaken Cursor - Dark Fantasy Cursor for Chrome, used by 2,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can read and change data on all websites and can inject scripts into pages. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in June 2026.
Analyst notes
Source code review reveals a straightforward cursor-customization extension with no malicious behavior. The injects only a CSS style element (not executable script) into pages to apply custom cursor images stored as data URLs in chrome.storage. The handles migrations and opens a single post-install tab to the publisher's own domain ([domain withheld]). The main React bundle (popup UI) references only [domain withheld] URLs for navigation links and contains no analytics tracking, no data exfiltration, no encoded payloads, and no remote code loading. The permhash cluster malware rate (18%) and broad permissions are explained by the cursor-category design pattern of needing *://*/* to apply CSS to all pages. The ML score of 0.31 is driven by normal minification artifacts (js_exclamation count, js_innerhtml from React's virtual DOM, js_fromCharCode from React event handling internals) rather than genuine malicious signals.
