What our analysis found
Evernote Web Clipper, used by 2,000,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can read and change data on all websites and can inject scripts into pages. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in October 2026.
Everything reviewable in this bundle is consistent with a first-party Evernote Web Clipper: the bundled manifest matches the published CWS manifest exactly (same 7 permissions, same <all_urls> host_permissions, same web_accessible_resources), and contains a single generic fetch() helper, a webpack globalThis shim, and a cookie wrapper whose optional-permission request is scoped to the current page plus *://*. Confidence is held at medium because the bundle is incomplete: declares, and, plus and, and none of those files are present, so the background context that actually performs network with chrome.cookies / tabs / scripting could not be read. The ML score (0.00) and chrome-stats likelihood () corroborate; the risk-engine 'Critical' rating is derived from the permission set alone and is contradicted by the code actually read.
