Power Tracker helps you understand and reduce your browser’s energy footprint—without being scary or spammy. What it does Live energy estimates per tab Shows approximate power usage and CPU activity so you can see which tabs are the real battery bandits. Environmental impact estimates Converts estimated energy into CO₂-equivalent and grid impact ranges to give helpful context. (Educational, approximate.) AI model information Detects common AI pages and surfaces model metadata when available (e.g., model family, context size claims, and known efficiency notes). Personal & power-saving tips Gives actionable, personalized tips based on your browsing patterns (e.g., “auto-pause background videos,” “batch downloads,” “use dark mode on site X”). History & export Saves a local history (on your device) so you can spot trends. Export your data to JSON for analysis. How it works (high level) Samples browser performance data and tab activity at intervals. Uses simple models and public conversion factors to estimate energy and environmental impact. Reads page titles/URLs only when you open the popup or run an action, to tailor tips. No external servers. No ad tracking. No third-party analytics. Accuracy & limitations All energy and CO₂ numbers are estimates. Actual usage varies by device, OS, GPU/CPU, workload, and power plans. Use this as a directional compass, not a utility bill.
