ClipHutch is a Chrome extension that detects video URLs as web pages load them and lets you save them to your computer. Click the toolbar icon to see what videos have been detected on the current tab. Click Download to save a file via Chrome's built-in download manager. Detection and downloading happen entirely on your device. 5 API permissions, not 14. No content scripts. No DOM access. Most video downloaders request 14 or more Chrome API permissions, including the right to inject scripts into every page you visit, read every tab you open, and store unlimited data on your device. ClipHutch requests 5: webRequest, storage, downloads, offscreen, and declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess. Nothing more. WHAT'S DETECTED - Direct video files served by web pages - HLS streaming playlists (.m3u8) - DASH streaming manifests (.mpd) WHAT THIS EXTENSION DOES NOT DO - Send URLs, page titles, hostnames, filenames, or browsing activity to any server - Track usage or include analytics - Inject content scripts - Bypass logins, paywalls, DRM, encryption, or access controls - Decrypt encrypted media streams PRIVACY The free tier never contacts a server operated by the developer. The licensed tier contacts a license-validation endpoint at activation and at most once every 7 days. No URLs, page content, or download history is ever transmitted.
