What our analysis found
AMOLED Wallpapers HD - Dark Black Backgrounds New Tab showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in October 2026.
Analyst notes
The extension is a straightforward new-tab wallpaper replacement with a search bar, clock, and site shortcuts. All JS files (,,) perform only expected operations: opening a publisher welcome page on install, setting a local wallpaper background from bundled images, storing shortcuts in localStorage, running a clock, and routing searches through the declared `search` permission. There is no outbound data transmission, no obfuscation, no remote code loading, and no undisclosed data collection. The bundled manifest exactly matches the published manifest summary. The ML score of 0.14 and permhash cluster (3% malicious out of 7555) are fully explained by the extension's large image file count (51 images) and common new-tab extension structure that superficially resembles other tab-hijacker extensions in the feature space.
