AATranslator — Translate Japanese AA (Ascii Art / Yaruo-kei) works in-place Browse Japanese AA works — やる夫 stories, 2ch/5ch threads, wiki galleries — and translate the dialogue without leaving the page. Only meaningful Japanese text is replaced; the ASCII art stays exactly as drawn. HOW IT WORKS 1. Click the AATranslator icon to open the floating toolbar at the bottom-right of the page. 2. Click "Select" and then click a container (e.g. a paragraph or div) holding the AA + text. 3. Click "Translate All" to batch-translate every detected Japanese block, or click individual blocks. 4. Click any translated block to toggle between the original and the translation. 5. Drag-select arbitrary text on the page and click the "Translate" popup to translate a custom range. FEATURES • Block-based detection — only meaningful Japanese text is sent to the LLM; ASCII art is preserved byte-for-byte • Four LLM providers — OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, and Ollama (local / free) • Free-tier friendly — a built-in rate gate keeps Gemini calls under the 15 RPM free-tier cap automatically • Efficient batching — multiple blocks packed into one request, with automatic fallback to smaller batches or individual calls on failure • Translate to Korean, English, or Japanese • Inline settings modal — no separate options page • UI available in Korean, English, and Japanese (follows your Chrome UI language) • Customizable highlight color for translated blocks • Cancel translation at any time, toggle highlight on/off PRIVACY Your provider choice, model name, API key, and preferences are stored locally via chrome.storage.sync. Only the Japanese text you explicitly translate is sent — and only to the LLM provider you configured. No browsing data, no telemetry, no analytics.
